We want everyone to be happy - even if it's at our own personal expense. And the holiday season can truly compound this effect, especially when it concerns family members and all of those old ingrained patterns of "doing what's expected", "not making waves", and "sacrificing our own needs" for everyone else's needs. Apart from the ongoing flurry of extra holiday activities, social and community events, family gatherings, and shopping and cooking specifically for the holidays, there is the added stress of the non-stop hustle and bustle of traffic, both within our homes and out there on the roads and in the stores.
