A Shocking Experience and Inner ReflectionsSpiritual Awakenings Come in Many Forms... ~~~~ Have you ever made big plans for a special day in your life? Where you actually mapped out the ~~~~ Well, that was my plan for my birthday on May 11th. And as a 5-time cancer survivor, who's now a long time thriver, I definitely believe in celebrating life. The day started off beautifully with a leisurely morning enjoying a fressh cuppa java - delicious organic java at that! - on my bedroom balcony. Ahhh... ~~~~ Then I headed out for lunch with a dear friend at a unique - and of course, healthy - local restaurant, called E.A.T.! Huh...now that was truly unique. And the chocolate cupcake was second to none in the dessert department! ~~~~ Then I made my way to Michael's to get some odds and ends for a craft project I was working on. And that's when my day completely changed! My iphone rang, and seeing that it was my soul sister calling, of course I answered. Ever had a moment when your heart seemed to stop beating, your breathing went on hold, and your mind went blank? And you felt yourself spiraling down into the pit of shock? That was me for what seemed like hours! People in the store asked if I was okay - and I just looked at them with a shocked empty stare... ~~~~ Her brother Arni, like a brother to me, and only 53 years old, was found dead, face down on the floor, by his 2 little children. No warning! Just gone! Shock prevailed... ~~~~ And inner reflections took over - for all of us. For me, my M.O. is walking. And I found myself walking, everywhere and anywhere that I found myself. Desert, ocean, hills, mountains, city blocks...it didn't matter. At first, after the shock subsided, I was incredibly sad, and then tearful, and finally reflective. ~~~~ Now, almost a month later, I'm still walking. Everyday! And the reflections are deeper, more soul connected, and more energizing - on every level, Body-Mind-Spirit - than any walks I had ever done before. Thank you Arni, for this amazing birthday gift of deep inner reflection. I know that you are watching me as I walk and reflect each day - and especially when that full moon beams down on me... ~~~~ The message here is to remember to take time out to be with God, the Universe, and the deepest parts of yourself, in reflection and contemplation - and to make time for this on a daily basis. entire day of fabulous (somewhat) self-indulgent activities? You know what I'm talking about, right? Meeting up with special friends for scrumptious meals, indulging in that decadent 7 layer mocha cream chocolate cake, hitting your favorite local winery and tasting their most expensive wines available in their tasting of the day, and then heading out to dance the night away with a great band and great friends!
