Cancer is a Sugar-Feeder - And Just Exactly What Are We Addicted To?
Neal Barnard MD is the founder of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), and its mission is to promote the benefits of a healthy plant-based diet, based on a wealth of sound science. In this video Dr Barnard discusses the science behind food addictions. He clearly demonstrates that willpower is not to blame. As it turns out some of the Western World's favorite foods, i.e. chocolate, cheese, meat, and sugar release opiate-like substances. Dr. Barnard provides a good case for how industry, aided by the government, exploits these natural cravings, pushing us to eat more and more of these unhealthy foods. ~~~~
NOTE: It just so happens that over-consumption of these same foods is indicated in the unprecedented rise in the occurrence of cancer in the developed nations. ~~~
So what's the solution? A plant-based diet! And based on my many years of research addressing GMO (genetically modified organisms) products, I would strongly recommend that we ban all GMO-based foods and products. The continuously growing body of research indicates that there are potentially dangerous repercussions, including the proliferation of cancer cell growth, resulting from ingestion of such foods and inclusion of such products in our daily lives. ~~~~
FYI, our animals are fed GMO-based corn and other grains. Hence the resulting meats and cheeses in our diet are altered. And much of the world's sugar cane and cocoa beans are grown and produced commercially versus organically, hence incorporating GMO's right from the get-go. So, above and beyond being addictive, they are also toxic to our bodily systems. ~~~~
