How to Create – And Become Addicted To – Healthy New Habits!

Get Addicted! You Read that Right! But Make It A Healthy Addiction!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You know it's time to take control of your health! But something always gets in the way, right? Believe me, I'm no different. As a cancer survivor, who is known for truly "thriving" not just surviving, I do a lot of healthy things on a daily basis. Yet, I had, like many of my clients and friends, become complacent about exercise - well, at least outdoor exercise. Something else always came first...you know what I'm talking about?
~~~~

My work came first. My clients came first. My bottleneck of emails, voicemails, and text messages came first. My friend's emergency came first. Lunch or dinner with a friend came first. And on and on...I'll just get _________ (you fill in the blanks) done first and then I'll go for a walk/hike/bike ride...

~~~~
Problem was that it never happened! I mean the outdoor exercise part! Now don't get me wrong! I'm not suggesting that all of thie things that became excuses were not important. But heck, no one knows better than I do - learned the lesson more than 28 years ago! - that none of that means a dang thing if you're not healthy enough to enjoy doing them! Or have the energy to get them done!
~~~~

But how the heck do you stop the excuses and get yourself in action? So are you ready for the answer? I mean this is really complicated! Mind blowing! Deep! Tons of work!

~~~~
Just kidding! In fact, it's just so darned simple, anyone can do it...
You decide to do it and then you do it. How long does it take to make a decision? Seconds! How long does it take to implement the decision? Seconds...well, maybe a couple of minutes. After all, if you're not already in the appropriate duds and shoes to get out the door and on the street, in the field, or on the country road - or any combination of all of these as I'm gratefully blessed to have - then it may take a couple of minutes to get prepared.
~~~~

But listen up! No more excuses. Just freakin' do it! And take the heat off yourself. Just decide to go for a 10 minute walk "today". One day at a time is all you need to concern yourself with. All we ever have is today. Tomorrow is, after all, just another "today"! Plan tomorrow when it is your today! :-)

~~~~
You'll be amazed at the outcome...When you come from this approach, all of a sudden all of those "todays" add up to a lot of yesterdays filled with one fabulous healthy habit. And an almost compulsive addiction to get off your seat, and on your feet - and singing a new version of an old song: These feet were made for walkin', and that's just what they'll do!
~~~~

Now if you're under 50, you may not remember - or even know about - Nancy Sinatra's song: These Boots Were made for Walkin', and That's Just What They'll Do. So just for fun, go ahead and google it. And then hit the pavement singing it as you bop along creating your new healthy habit! And then head down below to the comments section and share your experiences with this newly developed healthy habit!

PS: I started walking after the sudden unexpected death of someone very important in my life. It's now been almost a month - and I've only missed 3 days! I'm happily addicted. But please don't wait for someone to die before you start. Because stats show that someone could be you! Especially if you don't get that precious body of yours moving - NOW!
